Transitioning to the hybrid model (Part II)

Dear Families,

This morning, I had a conversation with students about preparing their supplies for a return to in person/hybrid learning.  This afternoon, I had a brief meeting our AM remote students to discuss their opportunities and responsibilities as remote learners beaming themselves into our in person classroom (oh how the world of science fiction becomes real…).  Tomorrow, we will review our learning schedule along with the “What’s In your Backpack?” list below. We will also talk about their role in helping complete the daily Wellness check.

Below are some tools and resources to help next week be as successful as possible for everyone!

Before the School Day Begins:

  • Wellness CheckThe Wellness Check (or daily attestation) must be completed each day before your child comes to school. Students who do not have completed wellness checks will not be allowed into the classroom until they have been evaluated by nursing staff, meaning that they will most likely miss some class time. Those students who are not coming into the building do not need to complete this.  The easiest way to complete the wellness check is to install the Skyward app on your phone (This is how I do mine and my daughter’s each morning before I come to work.) You can also use the log in to Skyward using a web browser.  I’ve even added a link to our blog for your convenience.  Let’s be the class who gets this done!
  • What’s In Your Backpack (a list to keep by your door): I am a visual, check list kind of person. I just don’t trust my busy brain to remember all the things. To help your student come to school feeling successful and ready to go, here is a daily check list of what to pack (and what not to pack) for our day. Please feel free to print and post by the door or on the fridge or take a screen shot to review before your student heads out the door for the day.
  • Preparing for In Person Learning: For a more thorough list of what to bring and what to keep at home, this list may be more useful. Students have already seen this list in the digital classroom and will be encouraged to use it on Friday to prepare their at home learning spaces for Monday.

During the School Day:

  • Daily/Weekly Learning Schedule: This schedule has been updated from the last schedule I send out (specialist days and deadly deadline (That’s for all of you who read this far carefully enough to catch THAT ridiculous typo) for the Daily Wellness Check have changed). Keep in mind that, while the times for the day will not change, I may adjust what we do during the school day to best fit our learning as a group.  Students will also need to continue their school day independently by attending specialists and completing loops tasks.  I will not be available to support students during their independent work time.
  • Breakfast/Lunch/Snack reminder: Students will not be able to snack while at school. Please plan accordingly when it comes to breakfast or lunch. If you have any concerns about this, please send me an email.
  • Weekly Loop: Asynchronous or Independent learning will continue to be managed through a weekly loop as it has been all year.  Students are responsible for completing these tasks and may benefit from adult check ins and support while they work.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns please contact me via email!

See you soon!

Ms. Isler
