Last week before Break

Dear Families,

In this, our final school week of 2020, our theme is cutting back and wrapping up. Here is a quick overview of our days this week, along with a schedule. Please note the time of our Tuesday MAP testing and our special event on Friday.

Monday:

Today, students will have math lessons and small groups as usual. Pythons will take a quiz, Ogopogos will get a preview of their next unit and the Dragon Turtle will continue on his current unit. We will continue to revise our choice stories (Due Thursday, Shared Friday). Vocabulary this week will be a little bit different because we are reviewing all of the word parts we have learned this year. The quiz will be on Thursday, instead of Friday. Students are expected to read and log for their book wheel during independent work time all week.

Tuesday:

*8 – 9 AM supply pick up this morning! Bags this week have treats from school & the PTSA.

On Tuesday, we will take the Math MAP screener at 10 AM and enjoy a lesson with Ms. Sampson at 11:10. We will meet for a science discussion during our third block. Students should be reading and revising/editing their stories during independent time.

Wednesday:

Wednesday is an early release day. We will work on Math Quest at 10:00 AM and have a guest teacher (Mr. Heimfeld, our librarian) at 11:10. Students should be reading and revising/editing their stories during independent time.

Thursday:

On Thursday, students will meet with their Math groups to make progress today. Pythons will do some review work together, Ogopogos will work on ideas for our next Module and Dragon Turtles will continue to look at data and statistics. This is our last math session before break. In Language Arts, students will edit and turn in their choice story that we’ve been working on almost daily for three weeks. We will share highlights tomorrow. In the afternoon, we will finish our tessellation art together.

Friday:

On Friday, we have a special opportunity to watch a Zoom stream of the Nutcracker. We will meet in our class meeting at 9:25 to share our watching set ups and review expectations. Parents and other household members are more than welcome to join us in this viewing! We will head off to the Zoom link by 10:00. The show should be done by Lunch.

We will meet together in the afternoon for a quick sharing of our choice stories AND to say farewell to the 2020 school year.

Cheers,

Ms. I
