Weekly Update January 4 – 8, 2021 & Monday schedule

Hello and welcome to a new calendar year!

Please review the video or slides for this week here to find out what’s going on in the digital classroom this week.

Please also read below to see our schedule for Monday (1/4/2021). This is a different format than you are use to but it is the same format I am now using with students in their Loop. The student loop for this week with be available for students by 8:30 Monday morning (if not earlier). I’m still finishing up a few things.

Today’s Schedule (1.4.21):

9:25 – 9:55 Morning Meeting

  • Journal Prompt: Write about something small you did over break. Write with as much detail as possible.
  • TOPIC: Zones of Regulation and the new Monday Morning Check in Form
  • New schedule format & Review schedule

10:00 – 10:55 – Math Quest

Target: Learn/practice using work backward strategies to solve Math Quest problems

Task: We will work as a whole class and in break out group with your Math Quest team.

Morning Break (10:55 – 11:10)

11:10 – 12:10 – Language Arts

Target: Read actively by questioning and connecting

Task: First Read: Question and Connect Hub – We will start this together in our meeting, but you will need to complete this work independently.

Lunch (12:10 – 12:40)

12:40 – 2:00 Independent Work

Your Task: Work on tasks marked independent in on Today’s hub or any other task you’ve listed on your agenda. Good places to start are:

  • Read, write or project for Book Wheel #2
  • Complete tasks from Instructional Block 1 & 2

Family meetings today (find these on your calendar: NONE! There are no Family Meetings this week.)

Student meetings today (find these on your calendar): Ben (let’s do some math!)

2:00 – 2:45 IB3/Mentor Sentences

Target: You will learn about (1) What mentor sentences are (2) how to use a journal to record your work during the week.

Task: Complete the Day 1 with our first mentor sentence

(If we have time, let’s try out a virtual drama game. I think we can do this!)

2: 45 – 3:10 – Independent Work Time

Your Task: Work on tasks marked independent in on Today’s hub or any other task you’ve listed on your agenda.

Music: 3:10 – 3:40

Your Task: Go to the specialist loop and attend the meeting to for today or follow the directions provided by your specialist teacher.

3:40 – 3:50/4 pm – Wrap up your day

  • Did you complete all the work you were expected to? If yes, then celebrate! If no, do you need to keep working? Or will you add your tasks to tomorrow’s list in your agenda?
  • THINK or WRITE – What is one thing to celebrate about your day today?
