Welcome to Monday (February 1, 2021)

Good morning, everyone.

Below is the schedule for our learning today.

This is a 5 day week with an early release Wednesday.  Most of our learning will be as usual. We are still moving forward on math and writing everyday (30 minutes) on a piece of informational writing (due dates will be coming this week). We will be finishing our Chapter 5 Social Studies Loop this week by taking several assessments. We will be taking a break from our book wheel for a week — the new book wheel will begin next Monday — but students are still expected to read for 30 minutes a day on texts of their choice. Finally, we are returning to our vocabulary routine for a few weeks, so get ready to do some studying this week!

A few important schedule notes for this week are:

  • There will be NO SUPPLY BAG SWAP this week. Due to K/1 students returning to the building, transportation needs to reconfigure how the supply bag swap will happen. While Carnation is offering an at-school-only supply bag swap, it seemed unnecessary to ask you all to drive in to pick them up. Next week, as things setting, we will hopefully return to bag swaps. I’ll keep you posted.
  • I mentioned this to students last week. This Wednesday, we will be participating in a virtual field trip to the Capitol via Zoom from 11:15 – 12:15. This is still within our regularly scheduled day, so there’s nothing special that you need to do, but if you’d like to join to “chaperone” you’re welcome to!  And good news, there’s no hour long bus ride!

Finally, as Kindergarten and 1st graders return to the building today, things are getting real.  Please know that over the next month we will be working in earnest to plan and shift our learning from a fully remote model to a hybrid model. This is no small task. I will share more details as I know them. I know that you are all still living with the uncertainty of what that will look, and I know that can be uncomfortable. Hang in there. Like all of you, I’m doing the best I can.

Today’s Schedule (Monday 2/1/21):
